Directions: Shake well; spray onto clean, freshly washed hair. Lightly massage into scalp, then cover hair with a cap for 10 minutes. Next, rinse (no shampoo, just water) rice water completely off of hair/scalp with cool water and style as desired. If you want to leave it in occasionally, you can, but you don’t *need* to as after about 10 minutes your hair will have absorbed as much as it needs. Recommended frequency of use: one time per week (I know it’s tempting to overuse, but you honestly won’t need to).
Why can’t I use this every day?: Everyday usage is not recommended because rice water does impart some protein to the hair and while protein can help to fortify the hair, overloading the hair with protein can cause hair to become brittle. It is important to keep a good moisture/protein balance in the hair at all times so hair strands don’t become either overly brittle or weak/mushy.

Why a preservative?
A preservative is an absolute MUST in a formula with herbs and water, as herbs are notorious for growing mold in water without a preservative and it would only hold up for about 3 days maximum refrigerated without a preservative.
