Description

This blend features the Ayurvedic herbs Shikaikai, Amla, and Yasthimadhu (licorice), along with 18 other growth promoting ingredients in a base of castor jelly.** The process of infusing these precious ingredients give the oil it’s distinctive orange-red color (red color may vary from batch to batch and differ from example shown on screen.)

Due to the thick and coating nature of this product, it is not recommended for low porosity hair.

So what makes it so great? Lets look at a few of the ingredients and their benefits:

Castor oil:

Rich in omega-6 essential fatty acids which encourage healthy hair
Used to combat split ends and breakage
Extra thick and humectant; attracts moisture and coats hair shaft and scalp to lock in moisture

Amla:

Nourishes
Discourages split ends
Promotes smooth, clear scalp

Shikaikai:

Discourages dry, flaky scalp
Used to moisturize hair
Rich in nourishing Vitamin C

Horsetail:

Contains high amount of silica (a building block of collagen)
Contains minerals and flavonoids
Helps condition and pamper damaged hair

Yucca:

Long used by the Navajo who believed it made their hair beautiful and kept their scalp moisturized and clear

Bamboo Leaf:

Rich in natural silica, a building block of collagen needed to build strong, healthy hair
Traditionally used on weak, brittle hair
Helps promote, smooth and healthy looking scalp

Fo-ti:

Long used by the Chinese to promote a full head of black hair
Used to condition damaged, dry and brittle hair

And don’t forget that here are many more growth and healthy hair promoting ingredients (such as cayenne and cow’s milk) in this oil.

Ingredients (Super Concentrated): Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, Carnauba wax, Lac (Cow’€™s) milk, Capsicum annuum (cayenne pepper), Emblica officinalis (Amla) Fruit, Acacia concinna (Shikakai) nut powder, Equisetum arvense (Horsetail), Yucca glauca (Yucca) root, Camellia sinensis (Black Tea), Bambusa vulgaris (Bamboo) leaf, Sinapis alba (Mustard) Seed & Curcuma longa (Turmeric) root (hot mustard) powder, Polygonum multiflorum (fo-ti) root, Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) powder, Armoracia rusticana (horseradish) root powder, Rosmarinus Officinalis (rosemary) powder, Allium sativum (Garlic) bulb powder, Allium cepa (Onion) bulb powder, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) oil, Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium) oil, Cupressus sempervirens (Cypress) Oil, Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Cinnamon) oil, Juniperus communis (Juniper Berry) oil.

To Use:
You simply apply a small amount to your fingertips. A little goes a long way, so no need to over do it and I KNOW it can be tempting. Massage the jelly into your scalp with the pads of your fingers (or even better, with a battery-operated scalp massager) for 2-3 minutes, 3-4 times per week. You massage the scalp each day, even when not using this product. You may also apply some of the Jelly to your hair if you like.
After applying, you may gently brush hair from scalp to ends of hair to distribute the product evenly throughout your hair. You may also use this as a hot oil treatment (concentrating on your ends) before washing it out, but you only need a tiny bit, like a quarter sized amount – use too much and it may be harder to wash it completely out. If you have drier hair (as found in types 3 and 4 hair) you may leave this in, but it is recommended that you should wash your hair/scalp at least once a week to clarify hair follicles.
A four ounce jar can last about 1-3 months depending on amount used and how often the product is used.

It currently is not available milk-free.

Specs:
Texture: This product has a texture similar to petroleum jelly, but is not made with petroleum jelly.
Look: Color May vary a bit from batch to batch; typically a medium orange color. Bits of herbs/botanicals may be visible throughout.
**Regular Formula is 1/2 Super Concentrated and half plain Castor Jelly. It will be lighter orange in color as it has been diluted.**

Scent: herbaceous; characteristic mostly of cayenne and bamboo, Castor oil and Carnauba wax.
Packaging: This product may come in EITHER a clear OR Brown plastic jar depending on what is in stock. Comes in 2 oz and 4 oz size, please see photos for size example.

MELT WARNING- Salves/Jellies, Hairdressings, Butters and other semi-solid to solid products are subject to melting when exposed to temperatures above 72 degrees. Depending on the season/temperature, this product may melt in transit to you. The product may still be fine to use, it just might lose its texture. In most cases, refrigeration or freezing for about 15-30 minutes may be sufficient to re-solidify it.
Despite our best efforts, there is no way for us to prevent melting unless maybe the items are shipped refrigerated overnight, which would cost approximately $30 extra in shipping.
To avoid melting and disappointment, please be mindful of the temperature where you are having this item shipped as we cannot control temperatures inside postal vehicles or inside your mailbox or wherever else your package may be delivered. For best results, you will want to avoid this product sitting outside of a climate-controlled environment (ie: inside a mailbox) for too long.

Also be aware that this and all oils can stain clothing if it accidentally drips on clothing, so it’s best to apply the oil before you get dressed, or while wearing clothes you don’t care if oil gets on them.
