Texture: This product is a light butter with a slightly grainy texture. Melts as it warms in your hand.
Look: light greenish-brown; color may vary from batch to batch. Small bits of herbs/botanicals may be visible throughout.
Scent: Camphoric and deeply herbaceous – a bit like the scent of mulch with a touch of pepper and camphor.

MELT WARNING- Salves, Hairdressings, Butters and other semi-solid to solid products are subject to melting when exposed to temperatures above 72 degrees. Depending on the season/temperature, this product may melt in transit to you. The product may still be fine to use, it just might lose its texture. In most cases, refrigeration or freezing for about 15-30 minutes may be sufficient to re-solidify it.
Despite our best efforts, there is no way for us to prevent melting unless maybe the items are shipped refrigerated overnight, which would cost approximately $30 extra in shipping.
To avoid melting and disappointment, please be mindful of the temperature where you are having this item shipped as we cannot control temperatures inside postal vehicles or inside your mailbox or wherever else your package may be delivered. For best results, you will want to avoid this product sitting outside of a climate-controlled environment (ie: inside a mailbox) for too long.

To Use:
You simply apply a small amount to your fingertips. A little goes a long way, so no need to over do it and I KNOW it can be tempting. Massage the jelly into your scalp with the pads of your fingers (or even better, with a battery-operated scalp massager) for 2-3 minutes, 3-4 times per week. You massage the scalp each day, even when not using oil. You may also apply some of the Jelly to your hair if you like.
After applying oil, you may feel some slight tingling in your scalp within the first 5 minutes. After applying, you may gently brush hair from scalp to ends of hair to distribute the product evenly throughout your hair. You may also use this as a hot oil treatment before washing it out. If you have drier hair (as found in most African types of hair) you may leave this in, but it is recommended that you should wash your hair/scalp at least once a week.
A four ounce jar should last about 1-3 months depending on amount used and how often the oil is used. You may also use this as a hot oil treatment to help condition your hair, especially your ends, which tend to be the driest part of hair.

What can you do with this oil: Hot oil deep conditioning Daily scalp massage to promote growth Use in daily styling Use on ends to protect against dryness and breakage Ingredients: Organic Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, Emblica officinalis (amla) Fruit, Lac (Cow’s) milk, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) meal. We now leave some of the herbal powder in the oil because I have found that doing so makes for a far superior product: • It can continue to infuse into the oil for the life of the product, thus resulting in an even more potent oil as time goes on • It can enhance scalp massage with the oil due to the fine grain Specs: will come in a plastic bottle with a twist top spout for easy application to the scalp. How to use: Shake well before use. A little really does go a long way. This oil is pretty thick so be sure not to use too much, especially for straighter/non-ethnic types of hair. For best results, use daily by massaging into the scalp, lubricating the ends of hair as needed. The green does not color or stain hair, however, if you use hair color, please patch test on a small piece of hair before using on your whole head, as some people claim coconut oil may dull their hair color. How to use: you may use this to lubricate your scalp and hair, as often as you like. How to use: For best results, use daily by massaging into the scalp, lubricating the ends of hair as needed. Even better results can be achieved when using in conjunction with GHE (the greenhouse effect) or the inversion (Power Growth) method. Ordered small jar and love the results ordered a larger jar!
I love this low porosity hair butter: smells good, feels better, makes my hair look its best. I put it on the last 5-7 inches of my hair for about an hour or so before using my no poo. My hair has never looked better!
